NetZero is a biochar production company that manufactures biochar at industrial scale to enable carbon removal. It operates a full-scale pilot plant in Nkongsamba, Cameroon — described as Africa’s first industrial-scale biochar facility — adjacent to a large coffee-processing plant that provides abundant feedstock. The company inaugurated a second production plant in Lajinha, Brazil in April 2023 and is building an additional plant in Brazil that is currently under construction. NetZero plans to develop several new sites in Brazil in 2024, deploy hundreds of production sites in the coming years, and pursue additional R&D improvements. The company aims to remove over 5 million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere by 2030. A new €18M investment will facilitate scaling of its production-site deployments in tropical areas.
