Overview

Neumob offers a service that accelerates in-app content delivery to smartphones by optimizing network usage. It initially launched a consumer Android app that proxies traffic through Neumob’s global servers to harden the network and collect mobile traffic data, and the company plans an iOS version soon with access to private Apple APIs. Neumob is shifting its focus to a B2B SDK for developers and claims it can speed up content delivery by 40–400 percent, with larger gains on slower connections. The company provides a free tier for testing but targets large customers through a traditional enterprise sales model and does not publish enterprise pricing. CEO and co‑founder Jeff Kim, who has experience at CDNs including Akamai, says the consumer app was used to validate the network before moving to the SDK. The company plans to use new funding to accelerate go‑to‑market and customer acquisition efforts. Neumob provides a mobile app (Android 4.0+; iOS planned) that accelerates other mobile apps and browsers by combining on-device software, a VPN service and an application delivery network. The company emphasizes reducing latency for dynamic API calls using mobile WAN acceleration and a UDP variant for improved last-mile and middle-mile throughput. It also offers optional encryption and geo-spoofing to bypass location restrictions, and bundles privacy practices that it says keep only aggregated, anonymized data. New users receive three free gigabytes of acceleration before purchasing more via in-app purchases or referral credits. Early testing reported average speed improvements of about 35 percent, though some apps experienced issues loading images or fresh content when acceleration was enabled. The founding team has backgrounds at Akamai, Cisco and CDNetworks; the company was founded in 2014 and launched its Android app on the Play Store in the month prior to the article. Financially, Neumob announced a $2.3 million seed round to support its product development and launch efforts.
