Overview
NeuroBionics is an MIT spinout commercializing hair-thin bioelectric fibers made from carbon nanotubes that can be routed through brain blood vessels using a stent-like procedure to deliver neuromodulation. The fibers are powered by a standard implantable battery shaped like an AirPod case designed to last five to ten years and aim to avoid the open‑brain drilling required for traditional deep brain stimulation. Founders MJ Antonini (CEO) and Nicky Driscoll (CTO) built the company from roughly a decade of MIT fiber research and secured three patents that give MIT a small ownership stake.
