NeuroNascent
6030 Day Break Circle, Clarksville, MD, 21029, United States
Overview
Neuronascent is an IND-enabling biopharmaceutical company based in Clarksville, Maryland, focused on discovering orally available therapeutics that promote new neuron generation and survival. Its lead candidate, NNI-362, is a new chemical entity that enters the brain and increased the number of new neurons surviving to maturity, reversing cognitive deficits in two separate preclinical Alzheimer's models. The company uses a human neuronal progenitor-based discovery platform to identify compounds that both stimulate neuron generation and inhibit neuronal loss. Neuronascent has completed a pre-IND meeting with the FDA and plans to finish all IND-enabling studies in 2015 with support from the National Institute on Aging's Alzheimer's Disease Translational Research Program. Proceeds from its first institutional financing of up to $1.2 million will be used to advance NNI-362 to first-in-human clinical testing. The company also aims to develop therapies for Down syndrome and Parkinson's disease using the same platform.
