Neurotec Pharma SL is a Barcelona-based R&D company that develops diagnostic tools and treatments for acute and chronic central nervous system (CNS) diseases. Founded in 2006 as a spin-off of the University of Barcelona, it is based in the Parc Científic de Barcelona. Its lead program is an oral therapeutic designed to modulate microglial activity to achieve neuroprotective or anti-inflammatory effects. The company reports the drug is effective at very low doses and is extremely safe and without side effects. Neurotec intends to use proceeds from its recent equity financing to conduct clinical trials of the oral therapy for multiple sclerosis (MS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Management includes Marco Pugliese, Dr. Nicole Ma-hy and Dr. Manuel Rodríguez Allúe.
