NewBiologix

Route de la Corniche 6-8 Serine building, Epalinges, Vaud, 1066, Switzerland

Overview

NewBiologix develops a proprietary DNA-based platform to engineer HEK-293 and CHO cell lines for the manufacturing of recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors used in gene and cell therapies. The company combines next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based genome characterization with a proprietary bioinformatics platform to drive data-driven cell line development and improve stability, integrity, and biosafety. Its engineered cell lines aim to deliver more stable rAAV production, higher quality and predictable expression, fewer empty capsids, and better batch-to-batch reproducibility. NewBiologix says these improvements should lower cost of goods sold (COGS) and enable advancement into therapies for larger patient populations beyond rare diseases. The company emerged from stealth with a $50 million (CHF 45 million) Series A led by Recipharm A/S and additional funding from co-founders Igor Fish and Nicolas Mermod. It has assembled a scientific advisory board including Mahendra Roa, Sir Gregory Winter, Anna Maurer, and Cori Gorman, and plans beta testing of cell line prototypes with collaborators by 2024 and commercial availability of viral production cell lines by 2026.
