Newboot develops an operating system that runs on industrial IoT gateways to standardize collection of sensor and automation data and forward it to enterprise applications and cloud providers. The Edge OS integrates about 90% of machine protocols and can route data to production, maintenance, energy-management apps and AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. Founded in June 2020 by Julien Morin and Wael Chahrour and based in Toulouse, the company has four employees and its solution was piloted by Saint-Gobain in factories across Europe and China. Newboot also offers Newboot PaaS for rapid on-prem or hosted IoT deployment and has a research contract with Nvidia on digital twins. Commercial partnerships include Lenovo (preinstalling the OS on its gateways in 2023) and Microsoft (offering the solution to industrial clients); the company plans international commercialization and to recruit six people by spring 2023. Financially, Newboot closed its first financing of €1 million (€700k equity, €300k loans) to fund hiring and go-to-market expansion.
