NewIcon develops automation and robotics products for handling medicines and laboratory equipment. Its solutions include automated storage systems for medicines and reagents, smart storage cabinets for pharmaceuticals and controlled substances, robots for intravenous antibiotic compounding, sorting robots for sample tubes, and the software for these applications. The company is led by CEO Ossi Parviainen and is based in Kuopio, Finland; it was founded in 2007. NewIcon employs 31 people and generated net sales of some €3m in 2013. It raised €2.3m in funding to further develop its products and to build an international sales network.
