Overview

NewStore provides a SaaS, cloud-based omnichannel store solution that integrates POS, order management, inventory, and clienteling. The company is led by founder and CEO Stephan Schambach and serves global DTC brands including Burton Snowboards, Decathlon, GANNI, Goorin Bros, Marine Layer, Outdoor Voices, and UNTUCKit. It recently raised $45M in a Series B-1 funding round. NewStore said it will use the funds to accelerate commercial efforts, expand globally, speed up product development, and increase employee headcount. The company is backed by General Catalyst, Activant Capital, and Salesforce Ventures. NewStore provides an Omnichannel-as-a-Service cloud platform that enables global luxury, lifestyle and apparel brands to run their stores on iPhone. The platform manages all aspects of the customer selling process, in-store operations and real-time inventory management. Customers include UNTUCKit, Decathlon and Outdoor Voices. The company raised $20M and intends to use the funds to expand operations and broaden its business reach. Backers on this round include Salesforce Ventures as well as existing investors Activant Capital, General Catalyst and founder-CEO Stephan Schambach. NewStore was founded by Stephan Schambach, who pioneered ecommerce at Demandware (now Salesforce Commerce Cloud), and maintains offices in Berlin, Boston and New York. NewStore is an enterprise mobile-commerce platform that helps retailers build mobile-first apps and shopping experiences, targeting apparel, lifestyle and luxury brands. The company is led by Demandware founder Stephen Schambach and launched its business late last year. NewStore has already signed major clients including Adidas and monetizes by taking a cut of revenue generated through its platform, modeled on Schambach’s prior approach. Prior to this round the company had raised $40 million since 2015 and currently employs about 140 people. NewStore plans to use the funding to grow its U.S. client base, hire more staff, and eventually expand its services to Europe and the U.K. NewStore offers a cloud- and mobile-based Mobile Retail Platform that integrates with existing e‑commerce platforms such as Demandware and backend ERPs to enable mobile-first commerce without major retooling. The platform focuses on increasing mobile conversion, unifying offline and online buying experiences, and modernizing fulfillment to drive closer, more profitable consumer relationships. NewStore was founded by Stephan Schambach, creator of Intershop and Demandware, and is headquartered in Boston. The company has signed its first customer, LLX Global Business Services SA, which supports JAB brands including Jimmy Choo, Bally, and Belstaff. NewStore positions itself as a comprehensive solution rather than a set of point products, with board-level support from investors and industry figures. The company is promoting adoption through events and a webinar to demonstrate how its mobile-first approach can future-proof retail brands.
