Newton Energy Partners is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Houston, Texas, with operations in Alberta through its Canadian subsidiary NEP Canada ULC. The company was founded in September 2010 by Bud Newton. Its Canada operations were acquired on October 1, 2011 through the acquisition of all outstanding shares of MEC Operating Company. Newton recently received an additional $75 million equity commitment from Kayne Anderson Energy Funds and management. That additional commitment brings the total equity commitment to Newton by Kayne Anderson and management to $150 million. Kayne Anderson Energy Funds, established in 1998, manages $2.7 billion of committed capital and invests private capital primarily in high‑growth oil and gas companies.
