Overview

NewVoiceMedia builds cloud-hosted contact-center and sales software that combines voice, chat and CRM tools and integrates with Salesforce via its ContactWorld for Sales product. The company positions itself as a replacement for legacy telephony systems and targets enterprises moving contact centers to the cloud. Management says the business is expanding internationally — having replicated its platform in North America and Asia after launching in London and Europe — and intends to use new capital to continue international expansion and hire talent. NewVoiceMedia works with about 500 enterprises and reports an annual revenue run rate of $50 million, with international business up 528% in the past year. Salesforce is a strategic partner and investor, and the company says this round facilitated a larger Salesforce investment (the largest Salesforce has made in a non-U.S. headquartered company to date). The company has raised $141.3 million to date and did not disclose a valuation, though a source described it as "not quite $500 million." NewVoiceMedia builds cloud-based contact-center and contact solutions and has integrated tightly with Salesforce, which is also a strategic investor. The company has moved its platform onto Amazon Web Services and now runs six AWS nodes globally while maintaining its own data centers in the UK. NVM serves sales and services customers (each roughly half of revenue), typically at ~2,000-seat deployments and engaging with 5,000–10,000-seat prospects. It reported licensing revenues of $10 million for the prior year and projects that figure will grow by 103% in the current year. The company says it has invested heavily in R&D and will use new funding to expand marketing, sales and infrastructure as it builds out in America and Asia; acquisitions are "not ruled out." NVM describes its valuation as "big," in the region of hundreds of millions but shy of 10 figures, and says it is well capitalized with substantial cash on hand. NewVoiceMedia builds cloud-native, multi-tenant contact center software designed to replace legacy on-premises telephony systems. The company positions its platform to tap trends in social, mobile and cloud services to improve customer interactions. Current customers named in the article include Parcelforce, QlikView, DPD, SHL Group and Topcon Positioning Systems. At the end of fiscal year 2013 the company reported revenues just under $10 million and it has about 150 employees. Around 20% of its seats are currently in North America, and the company opened a San Francisco office in August. Management plans to use new funding for R&D and to expand further in the U.S. and APAC, including new New York offices and investment in sales, marketing and professional services. NewVoiceMedia is a UK-based provider of cloud contact centre services that offers the ContactWorld platform. ContactWorld integrates natively with salesforce.com Service Cloud and Sales Cloud to enable customers to deploy contact centres. The company is led by CEO Jonathan Gale and serves customers in 30 countries, including Berry Bros & Rudd, Long Tall Sally, QlikTech, Royal Mail, SHL Group and Parcelforce. NewVoiceMedia raised $20m in funding to support global expansion. The company intends to use the capital to expand globally and open new offices in North America. Laurence Garrett of Highland Capital Partners Europe joined the board in conjunction with the funding. NewVoiceMedia offers a cloud-based contact centre SaaS solution called ContactWorld that aims to deliver sophisticated contact-centre technology at a fraction of the cost of traditional models. The platform is positioned to make contact-centre functionality accessible to smaller businesses. The company is profitable and serves more than 300 global customers across 11 countries, including Berry Bros. & Rudd, Kingston University, Parcelforce Worldwide, SHL Group, Weapprove, and Wokingham Council. NewVoiceMedia says it will use the new investment to further develop ContactWorld and expand internationally. The company cites a DMG estimate that SaaS could grow from 2–3% to 30–35% of the contact-centre market by 2011 and believes it is well positioned to benefit. NewVoiceMedia was founded in 2000 in Basingstoke, UK; its co-founders are Ashley Unitt and Richard Pickering and the current CEO is Jonathan Grant.
