Nextdata offers Nextdata OS, a data-mesh-native platform that lets users create, share, discover and apply "data products" for analytics and machine-learning workloads. Its data product containers hold data and metadata together and embed governance policies "as code," applied from build to run time. The platform exposes APIs that bring processing to data across trust boundaries, aiming to reduce data copying and bloat. Nextdata was founded by Zhamak Dehghani, formerly director of emerging technology at ThoughtWorks, who built the system to address enterprise data-sharing challenges for AI and ML. The company says it has pilots with Fortune 100 companies and "thousands" of users in an early access program. Near-term plans for the $12M seed include developing tooling and expanding hiring across product, engineering and go-to-market teams; the team currently stands at around 10 people (four contractors and six full-time employees).
