Founded by Mohamed Gastli and Syrine Chaalala, Paris- and Tunis-based nextProtein upcycles low-value agricultural and food byproducts into three core offerings: nextMeal protein powder, nextOil insect oil, and nextGrow organic fertilizer. The company relies on Black Soldier Fly larvae and a rigorously optimized feedstock recipe—tested across more than 100 ingredients—to achieve competitive feed conversion ratios while keeping CAPEX and OPEX low. Its products aim to replace resource-intensive commodities such as fishmeal and soy, offering a circular, lower-carbon alternative for global animal-feed supply chains. Proceeds from its latest raise will finance construction of a second, large-scale facility in Tunisia that is designed to output 12,000 tons of insect-based ingredients annually, including 2,500 tons of protein powder. Management believes achieving industrial scale and cost parity will move insect protein from niche to mainstream adoption. The company’s capital-efficient model and continuous R&D give it confidence to compete on both cost and reliability with traditional feed ingredients.
