Overview

Nico.lab is a Dutch health-tech venture founded in 2015 through a collaboration between Amsterdam UMC and venture builder NLC. Its core product, StrokeViewer, uses AI to analyze brain scans, recognize stroke indicators, and deliver diagnoses in minutes (reported as about three minutes versus hours for current protocols). StrokeViewer was tested on roughly 3,000 patients across several hospitals in the Netherlands and has been approved for roll-out by 15 hospitals. The company won a €0.5 million European grant and reports partnerships with Intel, HP, and Google. Nico.lab raised €3 million from multiple Australian investors earlier in the year and is preparing an IPO in Australia planned for early 2019. The company is pursuing market entry and clinical trials in Australia and North America.
