Nimble

Overview

Nimble is a San Francisco-based AI robotics and autonomous e-commerce fulfillment technology company led by CEO Simon Kalouche. It develops next-generation autonomous e-commerce fulfillment centers—end-to-end turnkey warehouses that operate at a fraction of the cost and complexity of goods-to-person based warehouses. Nimble's core technology is an intelligent, general-purpose warehouse robot that can perform all core fulfillment tasks. Paired with the Nimble Cloud Logistics Platform, the solution replaces dozens of complex fulfillment systems and offers WMS, OMS, TMS, IMS, and RMS capabilities. The platform manages and optimizes logistics operations and delivers real-time visibility and control across the entire supply chain for omni-channel brands. The company raised $106M in a Series C at a $1 billion valuation and plans to use the funds to scale robot manufacturing and system deployments while investing further in R&D toward its mission of inventing autonomous logistics. Founded in 2017, Nimble began as a pick-and-pack robotic automation firm and has evolved into operating fully automated third-party logistics (3PL) fulfillment centers. Its intelligent robotic fulfillment systems autonomously pick, pack and ship e-commerce orders and the company says this can reduce warehouse size by up to 75%. Nimble reports its network can provide 96%+ U.S. population coverage in one to two days and deliver click-to-collect savings of up to 40% compared with legacy 3PL providers. The startup quietly opened its first robotic fulfillment center roughly a year ago and says the number of live centers is between one and 10, geographically dispersed across the U.S. Nimble is focused on mid-market retailers while positioning to serve a range of customers, from enterprise merchants to small sellers, and aims to continue automating toward a "dark warehouse" even though some manual operations remain. Growth is being funded in part by recent financings, and the company is maintaining a cautious hiring approach with roughly 100 employees.
