Nine Square Therapeutics is a San Francisco–based company developing novel small-molecule therapeutics for movement disorders. The company aims to discover treatments for degenerative disorders including Parkinson’s disease and ALS, and non-degenerative conditions such as essential tremor and dyskinesias. Its approach integrates computational chemistry, biophysics and computational biology with machine-learning–enabled cell profiling for target identification, chemical optimization and patient stratification. Nine Square grew from a collaboration between Apple Tree Partners and scientists at the University of California San Francisco. The founding team includes Matthew Jacobson, Steven Altschuler and Lani Wu, with Spiros Liras serving as interim CEO.
