The platform supports collaborative workflows, allowing users to invite contributors worldwide. Led by CEO Andrew J. Solimine, the company counts Heroku, Hashrocket and over 100,000 developers from 4,000 organizations among its users for professional, open-source, and personal projects. Nitrous.IO intends to use the funds from the Series A to expand its platform and is actively hiring. In conjunction with the round, Sunil Nagaraj of Bessemer Venture Partners joined Nitrous.IO’s board. Nitrous.IO (formerly Action.IO) is a San Francisco- and Singapore-based cloud platform that sets up development environments and enables coding with no local installation. Led by Arun Thampi, Peter Jihoon Ki and AJ Solimine, the platform lets indie developers, designers, and organizations collaborate in real-time, deploy to production servers, and version dev environments. The company raised $1M in funding in a round led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from Draper Associates, CrunchFund, 500 Startups, TIBCO Software, Eduardo Saverin, Golden Gate Ventures and Prosper Nwankpa. Nitrous.IO says it will use the funds to expand its team, hiring generalist and dev ops engineers to continue building and improving the product. The announcement coincided with the company’s name change from Action.IO to Nitrous.IO.
