Nobi
Generaal Lemanstraat 47/5th floor, Antwerp, Antwerpen, 2018, Belgium
Overview
Nobi develops the AI Smart light designed to detect and prevent falls and support seniors both at home and in professional care environments. The lights operate in real time and process data locally to enhance privacy and reliability. Nobi’s AI model was trained over six years on more than 250,000 real-life situations. The company plans to use new funding to strengthen its market leadership in the UK and US and to add features that improve care home workflows. Headquartered in Antwerpen with offices in Belgium, the US, and the UK, Nobi’s solutions are available in more than 22 countries. Founded in 2018, the company currently employs 50 FTEs and intends to grow to 80 FTEs by the end of 2025. Nobi is a Belgian scaleup that produces a smart lamp designed to detect and help prevent falls among elderly people. The lamp targets residential care centres, assisted living facilities and private homes, and includes integrated communication technology that could enable applications for therapy follow-up and disease prevention. Nobi says the product helps accelerate response times for serious falls, aiming to improve outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. The company has raised €13 million to support expansion of partnerships with nursing homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals worldwide and to launch the product in people’s homes. Part of the funding will go toward redesigning the first-generation lamps to reduce unit cost despite rising raw material prices. Nobi plans to scale its team from about 10 employees to more than 40 by the end of 2022.
