Nomad is a marketplace designed to provide small-time rental property owners with guaranteed rent and other embedded financial products. Its flagship offering guarantees rent for mom-and-pop, DIY landlords to reduce vacancy costs and income uncertainty. The platform also offers rent advance (up to six months), rewards for tenured residents, and brokerage services to buy, sell, rent and manage properties. For renters, Nomad reports on-time rent payments to credit agencies and provides rebates toward closing costs to help renters become first-time homebuyers. In 2021 the company grew 8x (700% YoY), processed over $10 million of rent, and guaranteed rent for a portfolio of homes valued in excess of $250 million; the team expanded from 12 to 40 and the platform serves more than 1,000 customers. Nomad has entered Phoenix, is eyeing Raleigh and Charlotte, and plans further geographic expansion while investing in technology and local partnerships.
