SafeTrek offers a one-button "hold-until-safe" personal-safety mobile app and an API that links apps and devices to the national emergency services network. The company has launched integrations with Nest Protect, Alexa, and Apple Watch and reports handling an estimated 40,000+ emergencies. Its roadmap calls for a connected apps platform to enable IoT, wearable and voice activations and to surface safety services inside other apps (for example rideshare integrations). SafeTrek plans to sell its core API to other developers and companies so partners can dispatch police, fire, or ambulance services directly. The product development team was moved from San Diego to St. Louis and has grown from the four founders to more than 10 full-time employees, with plans to double headcount to ~20 by 2018. The company will use the new funding to hire roughly 10 more software engineers and to support platform expansion and product enhancements.
