NorcSi is based in Halle an der Saale and was founded in 2020 by Marcel Neubert and Udo Reichmann. The company is positioning itself as the first actor to move from pre-series production of single anodes to automated industrial roll-to-roll production of pure silicon anodes. Its core product is silicon anodes for electric-vehicle batteries, which NorcSi says could enable ranges over 1,000 kilometers and charging times under ten minutes. The firm's technology traces back to a 2013 interdisciplinary research project at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf and TU Bergakademie Freiberg. In prior years roughly €6 million had already been invested in the company. With additional capital it aims to scale manufacturing from pre-series to automated industrial production.
