Overview
NBX is the first publicly listed cryptocurrency exchange in the Nordics, operating from Oslo. The company focuses on retail crypto trading and related products and is preparing a credit card with cryptocurrency rewards. In September 2022 NBX secured a provisional NOK 100 million capital commitment from LDA Capital under a put option agreement. The commitment can be drawn over a maximum three-year period and will be released based on drawdowns; NBX can exercise the capital commitment at its sole discretion. LDA's injection would be in cash in exchange for newly issued equity and is intended to strengthen NBX's equity base and provide a competitive advantage over higher-cost peers. NBX plans short-term product launches and ongoing projects while developing longer-term initiatives to expand and create a complete portfolio for the Nordic market. NBX operates a cryptocurrency trading platform and aims to be a one-stop provider of digital-asset financial services in the Nordics. Since its public launch in April 2020, the platform has attracted over 7,000 clients, including institutional accounts. Trading volume reached roughly 20 million NOK by November, reflecting rising demand. The company is developing new products tied to banking and e‑money licenses and intends to pursue a banking license. NBX says the funding will support expansion to new countries and deepen relationships with institutional clients. Teams are based in Oslo and Riga, and the company emphasizes compliance, security, and stability as core principles.
