Nova Labs, also known as Helium Inc., builds the Helium Network, a blockchain-based decentralized wireless communications platform that lets individuals deploy Hotspots and earn the network's native token, $HNT, for providing coverage. The Helium Network, launched in 2019, has surpassed half a million Hotspots and provides coverage in over 52,000 cities across 169 countries. Nova Labs' incentive model has enabled rapid buildout of IoT and 5G networks at a fraction of traditional telecom cost and has attracted industry partners including Goodyear, Actility, Senet, Kore, X-TELIA and DISH and enterprise customers such as Volvo Group, Cisco and Schneider Electric. The company plans to use the new capital to invest in its ecosystem through hiring, additional development to improve the network, driving continued wireless protocol support, and building new applications on top of the Helium Network. Financially, Nova Labs raised $200M in a Series D at a $1.2B valuation. Co-founded by Shawn Fanning and Amir Haleem in 2013, the company intends to grow its team and work toward a decentralized future of wireless connectivity.
