NovaBiotics is an Aberdeen-based clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on first-in-class therapies for difficult-to-treat infectious diseases and respiratory conditions including cystic fibrosis and COVID-19. Lead product NP213 (Novexatin®) is being developed as a topical treatment for fungal nail infections and is in clinical trials with co-development partner Taro Pharmaceuticals. NM001 (Lynovex®) is being developed as an orphan drug for cystic fibrosis, is in a Phase II oral trial, and is being formulated for inhalation for longer-term chronic delivery. Preclinical candidates include NP339 (Novamycin®), an antifungal peptide, and NP432 (Novarifyn®), a peptide antibacterial targeting multi-drug resistant bacteria. The company recently secured funding to provide working capital to drive its clinical-stage programs and further develop earlier-stage antifungal and antibacterial compounds.
