Novaleum
15 Rue du Guicholet, Millery, Rhône, 69390, France
Overview
Novaleum developed a patented process that separates greasy wastewater into three fractions—solid, oil and water—enabling recovery for biogas production, extraction of oil for biobfuels and reuse of recycled water. The technology emerged from three years of R&D at Claude-Bernard Lyon 1 and led to the company’s creation one year ago. Novaleum has miniaturized its process into a containerized NovaBox and installed a prototype at IUT Lyon 1. The company plans to install an industrial demonstrator at the Pierre-Bénite wastewater treatment plant for a six-month test beginning in early 2027. Financially, Novaleum recently closed a seed round of just over €1 million from business angels, to be supplemented by bank loans and Bpifrance grants. It targets deployment growth—aiming for 300 units in France within ten years—and is working with partners such as InovaYa to improve recycled water purity.
