Overview

Novicap operates an end-to-end working capital platform offering supply chain financing, invoice factoring and flexible supplier payment finance. The company uses digital loan origination and underwriting and has been adding SaaS capabilities to its product set. It says the new funding will help scale its credit solutions and expand access for SMEs, mid-market corporates and public administrations. Novicap sees working-capital financing as a growing asset class amid rising interest rates and inflation. By the third quarter the platform had processed more than €1 billion in transaction volume, and the company was founded eight years ago. NoviCap is a fintech platform that enables small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to access the capital tied up in long-dated invoices. The company was launched in 2015 by CEO Federico Travella, COO Marc Antoni Macia, and CTO Nicolas Overloop and is based in London and Barcelona. To date NoviCap has financed over 2,800 operations. The firm raised €1M in the most recent funding round and has now raised €3M in total. NoviCap intends to use the funds to continue expansion in Northern Europe and in the US. Markus Ament, founder of Taulia, joined NoviCap’s board following the round. NoviCap operates a marketplace that lets SMEs raise financing by trading their invoices—used as security—for speedier access to cash, addressing typical 60–90 day payment delays. Investors buy those invoices at a discount and NoviCap takes a small commission on each transaction. The company emphasizes technology and automation to provide tailored discount rates and a pricing strategy based on the SME, the debtor and their credit history. NoviCap targets Southern Europe, with a customer base largely in Spain, citing long local payment terms as a market opportunity. The startup was launched in 2014 and is a Barclays Techstars alumnus. NoviCap has offices in Barcelona and is headquartered in London. Novicap is a marketplace that provides financing alternatives to small and medium-sized enterprises outside the traditional banking sector. The platform connects SMEs with non-bank financing sources. According to the article, Novicap received investment from Lánzame Capital. Lánzame Capital is a network of investors that enables coinvestment by small and medium investors. Lánzame is chaired by former basketball player Ferrán Martínez and directed by Antoni Castelltort. The piece also references Lánzame's participation this summer alongside Faraday Ventures, Caixa Capital Risc and PadeInvest in a €1 million round for Greenmomit.
