Novocarbo operates Carbon Removal Parks that combine Biochar Carbon Removal to capture atmospheric CO2, produce biochar as a soil conditioner, and generate regenerative heat that can decarbonize industrial or municipal energy supplies. The company supplies one of Europe’s largest distribution networks for biochar and has commercial customers including Bayer and Swiss Re. Founded in 2017 and based in Hamburg, Novocarbo has opened three Carbon Removal Parks in Germany and employs more than 35 people. It has closed three long-term carbon credit agreements totaling over 8,000 tonnes of CO2. The €25 million growth financing from SWEN Capital Partners will fund expansion of a pan‑European network of Carbon Removal Parks. Novocarbo plans to build up to 200 Carbon Removal Parks by 2033 to scale CDR and green heat infrastructure across Europe.
