Overview

Novostia is developing the proprietary TRIFLO Heart Valve, an investigational artificial heart valve currently undergoing human clinical trials (the PILATUS trial). The company announced early clinical results presented at EACTS in October 2024 and says the data support continued development. In 2024 the company raised additional capital to accelerate development and advance its clinical evidence base. The Board appointed Soad El Ghazouani as CEO to lead the company through rapid development and growth, with former CEO Alain Barbal joining the Board. Novostia is privately held, incorporated in 2017 and based at Biopôle in Lausanne, Switzerland. Its technology remains investigational and is not yet approved for sale. Novostia is developing an innovative artificial heart valve designed to be durable, anticoagulant-free and silent, with a focus on children and young patients. The company aims to improve quality of life for people suffering from heart valve disease. Novostia was awarded a EUR 2.5 million grant from the European Union under the Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator to support development and market introduction. The grant, together with a recent CHF 6.5 million financing round, will accelerate progress toward the first in-human studies. The announcement references support from the European Union, the company's investors and partners, though specific investor names were not disclosed. Novostia is a privately held company incorporated in 2017 in Microcity Neuchâtel, Switzerland; its device remains investigational and is not yet approved for sale.
