NU-RISE is a Portuguese medical-technology spin-out founded in 2015 from the University of Aveiro that develops real-time patient dose tracking for radiation oncology. Its system aims to make radiotherapy safer and more accurate and to reduce the number of sessions needed for tumour readmission. The company describes its technology as enabling more precise, autonomous radiation delivery to improve treatment quality and patient safety. NU-RISE has participated in multiple EIT Health programmes since 2017, including InnoStars, Headstart, Catapult (applied 2019), Bridgehead Europe and Gold Track in 2020, which provided mentoring and investor access. Financially, NU-RISE raised over €3M in a new investment round and previously secured €100,000 from InnovID and Portugal Ventures in 2020. The company plans to internationalise its solution and contribute to improving the safety of the estimated 12 million patients who could benefit from radiotherapy by 2035.
