Overview
Nuada is a Belfast, Northern Ireland–based carbon capture company that builds energy-efficient filtration machines to capture CO2 from industrial off-gases. Led by Dr Conor Hamill and Dr Jose Casaban, the company targets hard-to-abate sectors and aims to reduce emitters' carbon footprints with minimal impact on operating costs. Nuada is working with cement manufacturers including Buzzi Unicem, Heidelberg Materials and Cementir Holding, and is deploying a plant at Buzzi Unicem’s Monselice facility in Northern Italy. Financially, Nuada has secured a mix of private investment and grants, including an additional £3.4M investment from BGF, a £4.5M round co-led by the Clean Growth Fund, and nearly £3M in grant-funded projects from UKRI and DESNZ. The latest funding will support construction of an additional pilot plant at an energy-from-waste facility in the UK to demonstrate the versatility of its technology. The company focuses on piloting and commercial demonstrations with industrial partners to scale its filtration technology.
