Numbrs

Edenstrasse 20, Zürich, Zurich, 8045, Switzerland

Overview

Numbrs is a Zurich-based fintech whose app allows users to manage all accounts, crypto wallets, and loyalty cards in a single interface. In November 2020 the company changed its business model to a paid SaaS offering and has focused on Germany and the United Kingdom. In December Numbrs closed a funding round topping €25 million to roll out a new subscription service and to fuel growth in new and existing markets. The company plans to manage the subscription rollout across Germany and the UK and to enter three new European markets: Spain, Italy, and France. Numbrs previously raised €36 million in August 2019 with the goal of expanding internationally. The new capital is intended to support the product rollout and geographic expansion described above. Numbrs provides an account-aggregation app and an in-dashboard marketplace where users can find and select accounts, cards, financing and insurance from partner banks and insurers. The company was launched in 2014 by Martin Saidler and is based in Zurich. Partnering institutions named in the article include Barclaycard, Postbank, Santander, Bank of Scotland, Allianz and AXA. Numbrs’ Apple and Google Play app has over 2 million downloads and the platform manages more than €10 billion in assets. The company says it will use the new funding to continue expanding operations and its business reach across Europe. At the time of the article the firm had raised $200M in total capital to date and was valued at over $1 billion. Numbrs operates a mobile banking and personal financial services platform powered by machine learning to help customers manage existing bank accounts and improve personal finances. The platform is used by millions of active users and had aggregated EUR 7.2bn in assets as of 2018, with over EUR 1bn added in Q4 2017. Numbrs partners with leading financial institutions, including the Deutsche Bank Group, to provide client products. The company has attracted a mix of institutional and high-net-worth backers and recently increased its total funding to CHF150m. The investment from Marius Nacht underscores the company’s positioning at the intersection of technology and financial services and reflects investor confidence in its data-driven approach. Company leadership and investors have framed Numbrs as well placed to benefit from upcoming technological change in finance. Numbrs offers a mobile-first banking app that aggregates financial data into a dashboard similar to Mint while enabling users to make transactions and pay bills within the app. A central product feature, the "Future Timeline," predicts users' future finances by analysing historical payment patterns and underpins an advertising-based revenue model. The startup was founded out of Swiss company builder Centralway and recently exited Beta after launching in Germany. It is pursuing international expansion, with plans for a London office (to be shared with Centralway and Sandbox Network) and a planned U.S. launch early next year. To support U.S. expansion it is opening a New York office and hiring a marketing team. The company has attracted interest from U.S. firms including Intuit and a number of top-tier VCs. Numbrs is a mobile-first banking app founded out of Swiss company builder Centralway that provides an aggregated financial dashboard with the ability to execute transactions and pay bills. The app offers a Mint-like dashboard plus a Future Timeline feature that predicts users' future finances by analysing historical payment patterns. Numbrs plans to launch first in Germany, with the UK and Switzerland next, followed by Singapore and Hong Kong. For the UK launch it is working with a leading (unnamed) API vendor—not Yodlee—to connect to major banks and enable authentication, data import and transactions. The company aims to operate across all countries and banks over time. Centralway is opening a London office for the UK launch, where Numbrs’ UK country manager and marketing staff will be based.
