Numergy
25 Rue Madeleine Vionnet, Aubervilliers, Ile-de-France, 93300, France
Overview
Numergy is a cloud division within French telecom carrier SFR (owned by Vivendi) offering IaaS and PaaS to French and wider European customers. The service was built rapidly — launched in September after a four-month development effort organized inside an internal "Chocolate Factory" team. Its initial platform was built on HP Operations Orchestration, with a planned migration to OpenStack in the future. Numergy positions itself as a competitor to Amazon's cloud services by offering scalable public cloud and platform options for companies that prefer not to invest in their own infrastructure. The business benefits from the scale and legitimacy of SFR, a 15-year-old telecom group with about 10,000 employees. Financially, Numergy has secured significant backing and is targeting $400 million in revenues over the next four years.
