NurseGrid operates a staffing and scheduling technology platform designed exclusively for nurses, helping hospitals manage schedules, open shifts, float pools, and recruiting. The platform aims to fill empty shifts and improve nurse retention amid a nationwide nursing shortage. CEO and founder Joe Novello is a longtime nurse and leads product direction. The company said it will use the new funds to further develop the platform and add features, and has "big plans for 2018." NurseGrid reported its team nearly doubled to 34 employees and its mobile app has nearly half a million downloads. The company also cited that 85 percent of nurses said departments using the technology made them more satisfied and less likely to look for other work. To date NurseGrid has raised $9.3 million in total funding.
