Nursem
10 Redchurch Street, Biscuit Building, London, England, E2 7DD, United Kingdom
Overview
Nursem makes functional skin-care products—primarily hand creams—designed to treat and prevent occupational dermatitis among healthcare workers. Founder Antonia Philp developed formulations with a specialist laboratory using ingredients such as manuka honey after roughly 20 iterations; Newcastle Science City funded the first small batch of about 10,000 creams. The brand rebranded to Nursem in 2017, secured a Boots retail deal after a 2018 crowdfunding campaign, and has given a month's worth of free hand cream to more than 370,000 NHS staff through its 'Nursem promise.' The company reported 2021 revenue of more than £2.5 million ($3,391,000). Antonia remains a practicing nurse while her husband Jonny runs day-to-day operations. Nursem plans to launch a couple of new products this year and aims to expand into the U.S. in 2024.
