NuTonomy was founded in 2013 by MIT PhDs Karl Iagnemma (CEO) and Emilio Frazzoli (CTO) and is based in Cambridge, MA. The company develops autonomous driving systems by retrofitting existing vehicles to operate driverlessly rather than building new cars from scratch. It has run early autonomous golf-cart trials and is testing a fleet of self-driving taxis, with trials in Singapore, Michigan and the UK (partnering with Jaguar Land Rover).
