Nutrino
94 Yigal Alon St, Tel Aviv, Israel
Overview
Nutrino is a San Francisco- and Tel Aviv-based provider of nutrition-related data services and analytics technology. It offers an advanced platform and comprehensive food database that collates data from millions of food items globally and is used by companies across food & beverages, digital health, fitness and beyond. The company uses AI and machine learning to analyze feedback from wearables and other data points to understand individual responses to particular foods. Those contextual insights allow Nutrino to define an individual's FoodPrint, the digital signature of how food affects a person's body. Led by CEO Yael Glassman, Nutrino intends to use the Series A proceeds to expand its services across the digital health sector and sign additional partnerships. The company raised $8M in the Series A, bringing total funding to $10M. Nutrino is an iOS app that functions as a virtual nutritionist, delivering daily personalized meal plans informed by users' profiles, goals, habits and culinary tastes. Its recommendation algorithms, reportedly two years in the making, drive the personalization and meal-planning features. Users complete an in-app survey to build a profile (gender, age, height, weight, lifestyle, goals and preferences) and can sync weight data with Withings wireless scales for tracking. Each meal can be added to a grocery list that currently ties into UK supermarket chains Tesco and ASDA and connects with on-the-go outlets such as Pret, pod, eat, Costa Coffee and Café Nero. Nutrino plans to target communities with special nutritional requirements (e.g., people with diabetes, hypertension, athletes) with subscription-based tailored features, and seeks deeper grocery and take-out integrations. The startup has been funded to the tune of $400,000 from family and private investors. It was founded by Jonathan Lipnik, Yaron Hadad, Jose Luis Martin de Bustamente, Eduard Ros Bajona and Ido Cohn and is spread across the UK, Spain and Israel.
