Nylam

Heilbronn, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany

Overview

Nylam offers a spray applied to stockings and tights that, when dried, is intended to make the material more resistant to runs; the founders say the effect must be reapplied after each wash. The product was available for about four months before the TV pitch and had sold around 140 cans through the company’s online shop by the time of the appearance. The founders, Arta Klimenta (32) and Mergim Klimenta (34), reported a manufacturing cost of €1.72 per can and an initial retail price of €5.99 (later €6.99 on the shop), with multi-pack options priced at €12.99 and €20.97. The founders stated sales projections of €320,000 in the first year and €620,000 in the second year. Tests shown on the program indicated the spray works on stockings between 15 and 40 DEN but failed on much thinner deniers, and judges noted limitations of the business model and product scope.
