Oak Labs

550 Bryant St # 1H, San Francisco, CA, 94107, United States

Overview

Oak Labs develops interactive smart mirrors for retail dressing rooms that recognize clothing (using RFID tags), display items brought into the room, allow shoppers to request different sizes or summon sales staff, and offer five language options and three lighting schemes. The mirrors are deployed in Ralph Lauren’s 5th Avenue store in New York and echo work cofounder Healey Cypher began developing at eBay, where similar mirrors included RFID recognition and a PayPal checkout option. Oak Labs was cofounded in May by Healey Cypher, Michael Franklin, Flynn Joffray, and Darren Endo and builds on prior eBay retail-innovation projects. The company says its product aims to reduce the friction of finding the right item and size in-store and to improve conversion for retailers. To make the business work the company will need to scale to many retailers and likely expand into other products. Financially, since its founding Oak Labs has raised $4.1 million in funding led by Wing Venture Capital.
