Oak National Academy provides free, high-quality curriculum resources online to support teachers with lesson planning and classroom materials. It has piloted AI-powered tools, including a quiz builder and lesson planner, which thousands of teachers have used. The organisation reports 30,000 teachers using Oak every week. The UK Government is investing up to £2 million to improve and expand those AI tools and to develop a personalised AI lesson-planning assistant for every teacher in England. Oak plans to make the improved AI tools available to teachers across England for free. The project will publish resources under an Open Government Licence and grant access to Oak’s curriculum content for edtech companies building AI products from that material. Oak and the Department for Education frame the work as part of efforts to reduce teacher workload and cut working hours beyond the school day.
