Overview
Objective (previously Kailua Labs) is a low-code multimodal search platform that provides an API for developers to build multisearch apps handling text, images, video and audio. Its in-house technology returns contextually relevant results and supports natural-language and combined queries (for example, image plus text), and the system learns from user interactions to optimize results. The company emerged from stealth and aims to be an affordable, go-to solution so developers can buy rather than build multimodal search in-house. Objective was co-founded by three ex-Apple machine learning employees — CEO Pablo Mendes, Joachim Daiber and Lance Hasson — who worked on general knowledge queries for Siri. Nearly a dozen launch partners are using Objective Search, including Pod Foods, Dribbble and The Information. Pricing depends on company size, data volume and query volume. Financially, Objective has raised $13 million across multiple funding rounds and is backed by Matrix Partners, Two Sigma Ventures and angel investors.
