Ocean Ecostructures
Moll de Sant Bertran, s/n, Barcelona, Catalonia, 08039, Spain
Overview
Ocean Ecostructures develops a multitechnological Bio Boosting System that combines advanced marine regeneration technologies with artificial intelligence and robotics to convert maritime infrastructure into restoration assets. Its Life Boosting Units (LBU) replicate the functioning of natural reefs and can multiply up to sixfold the number of species in deployed areas. The company uses underwater drones (ROV) to monitor species counts, CO2 fixed, biomass and water‑quality parameters; data are stored in the cloud and reported to clients via the iOceans platform. Ocean has installed more than 160 units across over 20 ports; units in place for more than four months have recovered 287+ species (mostly native), helped fix over 925 kg of CO2 and accumulated more than two tonnes of biomass. Founded in 2021, the company aims to transform 20,000 marine infrastructures into “blue oases” by 2030 and is participating in accelerators and programs such as the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center, Norrsken’s Barceloneta hub and a Fundación Repsol acceleration project. The firm recently obtained public financing of €500,000 from Avançsa to consolidate its strategic plan and continue scaling its deployments.
