Overview
OceanWell builds modular deep-sea water farm pods that harness natural hydrostatic pressure at depths of about 400 meters to perform reverse osmosis desalination. Each pod is designed to produce up to one million gallons of fresh water daily and the modular design enables scalable projects based on demand. Its systems filter out salts, bacteria, viruses, pesticides and PFAS while components are engineered for durability in harsh deep-sea environments. The company says its technology reduces energy consumption by up to 40 percent, protects marine life and eliminates toxic brine disposal. Led by CEO and Founder Robert Bergstrom, OceanWell plans to scale its modular solution and launch a California water farm pilot with Las Virgenes Municipal Water District. The company recently completed a financing round to support those efforts.
