Ocelot provides an AI-based platform to facilitate easier communications between universities and their students around applications for financial aid and other services. Its services include texting, chatbots, live chat interfaces, video libraries and counseling interfaces for financial aid offices to assess satisfactory academic progress (SAP). The platform is used by some 8 million students and nearly 500 colleges and universities, which saw about 12 million questions asked and answered through Ocelot in the last year. The company was founded in 2003 by Damon Vangelis and Talin Andonians became CEO in 2021. Headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Ocelot was bootstrapped until this raise and has been profitable from the start. The company says it will use the funding to expand its products, particularly financial aid-related tools and additional services around institution–student interactions.
