Overview
Ocelot Bio is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing OCE-205, a peptide therapeutic designed to selectively target complications of portal hypertension. OCE-205 is being explored first for hepatorenal syndrome with acute kidney injury (HRS-AKI), a rapidly progressive complication of end-stage liver disease with high mortality and no FDA-approved treatments. The company received FDA clearance of its IND and plans to initiate a Phase 2 trial of OCE-205 in HRS-AKI (targeted for the first half of 2022). Preclinical research and Phase 1 data in healthy volunteers suggest OCE-205 may improve outcomes by reversing renal failure and prolonging survival to enable more patients to undergo liver transplantation. Ocelot intends to use the recent financing to advance OCE-205 into additional indications such as ascites. Katherine Vega Stultz was appointed president and chief executive officer to lead the company through these clinical and commercial milestones.
