Imperial House, Imperial Park, Newport, NP10 8UH, United Kingdom
Overview
Ocelus Ltd develops and commercialises a needle-free microimplant drug-delivery system designed to simultaneously deliver small particles into the skin at hundreds of sites per square centimetre, reducing the pain and inconvenience of injections. The technology was invented by Dr Kirby, who founded the company in late 2007. The company is based in Newport, Wales, UK. In January 2010 Ocelus received approximately £500,000 in a second round of funding to advance prototype development and optimise the technology for commercialisation. The new capital comprises a £315,000 equity investment from Finance Wales and a £147,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly Government’s Single Investment Fund. Both investors had previously invested £100,000 in the company in 2008.
