Overview
OckyPocky is an interactive learning platform that aims to empower children to master English through personalized, vernacular-focused language programmes. The company is based in Gurugram and says its product is propelled by substantial intellectual property and has been steadily growing since the pandemic. OckyPocky targets expansion into India’s high-potential Tier-II, III, and IV cities and plans to further develop its technology to deliver high-quality personalized learning experiences. The seed funding round amount was not disclosed. Founder and CEO Amit Agrawal said the funding will enable the company to expand and develop its technology. Investor Sujeet Kumar noted he will spend time every quarter to help the team iron out scaling plans. OckyPocky is an interactive English-learning app for children built around a Channapatna-themed octopus character and created by the WhizKidz team. It uses personalized AI/NLP behind the scenes plus voice, video and vernacular support to give feedback and help kids build early vocabulary. The app primarily targets non-English-speaking families and currently engages more than 200,000 children monthly, with users learning 8–10 million words in 30 days. Founded in 2015 by Amit Agrawal and based in Gurugram, OckyPocky experienced a surge in demand during COVID-19 that crashed its servers and forced a temporary downsizing to extend runway. The founder said that with funding from Lead Angels they went full speed on monetization and are doubling revenue every month; the company is increasing team size and seeking a bigger office. OckyPocky plans to use the funds to expand sales capabilities and further develop its technology to meet demand. OckyPocky is a preschool-focused language learning app that provides English instruction powered by speech recognition technology. The app is developed and designed for India with an emphasis on vernacular languages and personalises lessons using natural language processing and artificial intelligence. It targets mobile web users who do not speak English at home and monetises via a freemium B2C model. The company reports having elicited over 500,000 interactive questions from preschool kids on the platform to date. Founded by Amit Agrawal in April 2015, OckyPocky plans to expand its user base into Tier 2 and Tier 3 centres and to reach non-resident Indian children through a Hindi learning curriculum. The startup also intends to scale operations and strengthen its technology infrastructure with the new funding.
