Octane Coffee

1319 Poplar Drive Unit B, Waukesha, Wisconsin, 53188, United States

Overview

Octane Coffee builds an app-driven, fully automated drive-through coffee shop centered on an industrial robotic barista. Customers order via the Octane Coffee app, which tracks GPS and begins brewing one to two minutes before arrival; beverages are brewed at higher temperatures and the robotic system also retrieves bottled cold drinks from coolers. The automated units include multiple redundancies and continuous monitoring of variables such as bean coarseness and milk-frothing air pressure, and feature an adjustable delivery window height for different vehicles. Founder and CEO Adrian Deasy, a mechanical engineer, launched the concept after pitching it in 2018 and the team has developed several original, patented pieces of equipment. Octane raised a $500,000 seed fund comprised of owner investment, angel funding, and a WeFunder round, and is set to open its first standalone location in Spring 2022 at W229 N1400 Westwood Drive in Wisconsin. After corporate locations scale, the company plans to franchise the fully contained shops and cites potential strategic interest from larger beverage companies such as Lavazza and JDE Peet’s. The company emphasizes local sourcing—using Stone Creek Coffee and Glendale-based Healthy Roots products—and is targeting the $73.9 billion specialty coffee market.
