Oink (formerly Virtual Piggy) operates a COPPA‑compliant payments service and family wallet that lets parents and approved sources deposit money into minors’ accounts for online purchases at Oink‑approved merchants. The platform includes parental controls and an educational focus on teaching kids responsible spending. Oink currently lists merchants such as Banana Republic, GameStop, Claire’s and Toys ‘R’ Us and offers purchases via desktop, mobile browsers and a new app. The company plans to expand to in‑store payments through barcode-generation and, longer term, NFC mobile wallet support. Oink has 750,000 active users and holds patents (applications first filed in 2009) that are beginning to be granted. Founder and CEO Jo Webber is based in Southern California and the rebrand followed the purchase of the Oink domain, trademarks and social marks from Milk for $57,500.
