Overview
Okogen is a San Diego-based developer focused on ophthalmic anti-infective therapeutics. Its lead candidate, OKG-0301, is an ophthalmic formulation of ranpirnase, a potent ribonuclease with broad-spectrum antiviral properties. The company is developing OKG-0301 initially for adenoviral conjunctivitis, the leading cause of eye infections worldwide and an unmet medical need with no approved therapies. Okogen announced AU$13 million in Series A funding from Brandon Capital’s Medical Research Commercialisation Fund (MRCF) to advance clinical development. The funds will support further clinical research and Phase II trials at hospitals across New South Wales and throughout Australia, with trials slated to begin mid-2018. Professor Stephanie Watson of the Sydney Eye Hospital and Save Sight Institute will serve as principal investigator for the clinical work.
