Okteto provides remote development environments running on Kubernetes clusters so developers can run microservices, databases and other services exactly as in production and shut them down when finished. The platform can consume existing Docker Compose files or okteto.yml manifests to replicate production setups and integrates with developers' existing workflows. The company has shipped "preview environments" to let non-developer stakeholders view the current state of a project. The team plans to expand beyond environment provisioning to include tools for writing tests and extend ephemeral environments to more use cases. Okteto counts customers such as Monday.com, LaunchDarkly and Replicated, and its founders have prior experience at Microsoft, Atlassian, Docker and other companies.
